Another Disaster

The Barcelona Dragons have had a masterclass in disaster during their 2024 season. Under a lieu of financial issues, player drama, and previously conceding to the Munich Ravens in the 1st half back in week 7; the Barcelona Dragons unfortunately find themselves once again at the center of misfortune. Barcelona had almost nothing work in their favor during the game. Beucler ended the day 23 of 42 for 199 yards with zero touchdowns and interceptions, putting himself at a 54% completion percentage and a 61.78 passer rating. This trend of suboptimal performance followed through with all facets of Barcelona's game. The rushing attack ended at an abysmal total of 6 rushing yards between 7 different runners, with the most yardage coming off of Williams Jr. 20 yards on 7 attempts. The defense had even less to show with only 1 TFL, 1 sack, and 1 PBU combined across all players. The only player who can walk away holding his head high is Sagué with his 6 catches for 71 yards.

Utter Annihilation

When Barcelona conceded back in week 7, many fans and analysts speculated on Munich's ability to break the scoring record if an entire game was played. Unfortunately, the entire ELF community saw that Munich was more than capable of breaking this record. Munich started the rout with 8:32 left in the 1st Quarter, a flag was thrown and a free play ensued for the Ravens. A mistimed throw by Jeffries was deflected off a Barcelona defender and tipped straight into Rutsch's hands for the first score of the game. After this stroke of luck, any hope for a close competition was completing squandered away. Jefferies threw a screen pass TD to Stanley with 4 minutes left to go in the 1st and the lowest scoring quarter was completed. Munich then proceeded to score 21 points in both the second and third quarters, and then a whopping 34 points in the 4th. To help put this scoring domination into perspective, 34 points in a quarter has only been achieved once in the NFL. This performance was done back in 2007 by the Detroit Lions to beat the Chicago Bears 37-27. Previously, the most points scored in a quarter was 31 back in September 13th, 1981 by the Atlanta Falcons.

Munich's Stats

Munich ended the game with asinine statistical performances across the board. Jefferies completed 13 out of his 20 attempts for 251 yards and 5 touchdowns giving himself a 65% completion percentage and a 147.92 passer rating. Adrom completed all 3 of his attempts for 84 yards and a touchdown giving himself a perfect passer rating. The rush attack was diverse and dangerous for Munich. Rodney rushed for 111 yards and 2 touchdowns on 12 attempts, Pohler rushed for 74 yards and 3 touchdowns on 6 attempts, and Oyewo only had 2 rush attempts but made the most out of these opportunities to get 53 yards and a touchdown. Stanley had a phenomenal day receiving; he ended up racking 140 yards and 2 touchdowns on 5 catches. Rutsch also came away with 2 touchdowns and 70 yards on 3 catches. The final two touchdowns came from Oyewo as well with 3 catches and 38 yards. The defense completely dominated with 5 total sacks and 81 tackles. 81 tackles would break the NFL record of 80 tackles in game done by the Houston Texans in 2003. The standouts on defense were Nkembi with 9 tackles and 1 sack, as well as Zirngibl with 6 tackles and 3 sacks.

Barcelona's Future

Although the ELF had a phenomenal weekend with some absolutely exhilarating games, especially the Surge v Raiders game; the Barcelona v Munich game left a lot to be desired for the league. The talent disparity is more apparent than ever and the odds of Barcelona returning the ELF look even more grim after each embarrassing performance. However, these players can hold their heads high as they went out and played four quarters of football; making amends to the unfortunate week 7 game.
